Bethsmith Aliga William

Acting Director General of the Directorate of Technical Services

Born in Kaya Boma, Kimba Payam Morobo County to an evangelist family of Mr. William Nigo Philip a teacher from Kimba Boma, Kimba Pyam of Morobo County and Mrs. Aseneta Akita Tito a teacher from Mugo Payam of Yei County. Rose up in an evangelism environment which has a lot of impact in his current life style as it can be clearly manifested in him as God fearing, team player, and understanding among others.

His education life stated in a small village school in Mongo of Yei County and was the first step of his education life in 1975. Later when his father was transferred to work in Yei Two Primary School,  he went to Lutaya Primary school in Yei Town. There he progressed in his education through difficult times where he was admitted to a college of Electrical Engineering in 1990 after passing the Sudan School Certificate Examinations. Unfortunately the Sudanese Authorities changed the media of instruction to Arabic language; it became difficult for him to continue with the Electrical Engineering in Khartoum Polytechnic. He then decided to pursue a bachelor of Geology and Mining in 1992, in the college of Natural Resources in the University of Juba in Khartoum where he graduated with Honors Degree in Geology and Mining.

 

In 2009 got appointed in the defunct ministry of Energy and Petroleum after working with several humanitarian organizations in the field of water and sanitation as a field coordinator and Hydrogeologist. While in the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum he was assigned various roles in the Directorate of Mineral Development.

In 2014 he was appointed to represent theMinistry of Petroleum and Mining of the Republic of South Sudan in the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), comprising of 12 countries.  Member in the Regional Committee in the Fight against the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources (RINR), with its head quarters in Bujumbura in Burundi. Currently the he is the Deputy Chairperson of the Regional Committee in the fight against the Illegal Exploitation of Natural Resources in the Great Lakes Region.

In 2016 when the Ministry of Mining was created, he became the 1st to head the Directorate of Technical Services as an Acting Director General to date. During his work period with the Government, he gained a lot of skills such as mineral exploration when he worked with Equator Gold as an Exploration geologist in Upper Luri concession, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing after trainings in Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg South Africa and James Cook University in Australia, budgeting skill when he was the budgeting officer of the Directorate of Mineral Development.
